JOURNALFEST 2024: my first journal event

So the cat is out of the bag (or the sparrow is out of the pencil case)I’ve been invited to this year’s JournalFest! In addition to a short talk, I’m also hosting a Journal Club meetup in the VIP Creativity Zone

JournalFest is a full-day event, part of a trio of events alongside Stationery Fest and Planner Fest, all in Manchester Central on Saturday 29th June.

JournalFest is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a full day of journal appreciation - chatting with others who share your passions and getting inspired by speakers and workshop sessions.

If journaling isn’t quite your thing, there’s also StationeryFest, a marketplace of over 40 creators and small businesses with amazing must-have stationery and ephemera and PlannerFest, for those of us who live for the organised and creative aspect. All this happens under 1 roof and your VIP ticket gets you access to all the talks, workshops, the VIP zone and a host of goodies.

Book your spot VIP spot here.

(There are also standard tickets available.)

I’m nervously excited; I’ve never spoken in public before, bar some coursework presentations in college and during my classes. But nothing happens in your comfort zone, so I’m taking this amazing opportunity and holding on tight!

I don’t want to go into too much detail and give away what I’ll be discussing but anyone who has been to a Journal Club meet-up or one of my classes will recognise this quote. Journaling and planning often overlap but are distinct in their own rights. I consider myself a journaler and will discuss what this means to me.

I’m taking this show on the road and will be hosting an hour-long Journal Club session in the VIP zone. It will be a casual, drop-in event, ideal if you want a chance to catch your breath, jot down an entry in your journal in the moment, or catch up with friends old & new. I’ll be on hand with some guided prompts and will be happy to share some of my motivational tips and hacks when facing the blank page.

I’ve just arranged my flights so it’s becoming more and more real. Thank you to Becki for organising JournalFest and for kindly inviting me along - I’m working on my talk now along with some prompts and ephemera for Journal Club. Wish me luck and I hope to see some of you there!
